Joni And Garret’s Sweet Backyard Photo Session

I’m all for weddings, elopements and engagement sessions. But sometimes, I find myself itching for something just a bit different. Joni + Garret asked if I’d be interested in a backyard photo session with them. I was stoked, and I loved getting to know them as a couple.

Even though we kept things simple, it was an impactful session. Joni + Garret had some fantastic outfits, and the lighting was perfect for a moody photo shoot. I had a great time shooting this backyard photo session with the two of them.

Keeping It Simple

Joni + Garret said they wanted a photo session to celebrate them as a couple. But they didn’t want anything too fancy or staged. Authenticity was important to them. So we used a backyard that had some rad retro patio furniture and a pool.

Joni wore a white turtleneck with a pink jumper and some adorable white heels. Garret wore brown slacks, an off-white knit sweater and trendy loafers. Together, they looked every bit the part of a slick retro couple.

Not only did these two look good on their own, but they also looked great together. Watching them cuddle and hold hands during our backyard photo session was really sweet. They clearly have so much love for one another and wanted to capture this moment in time together.

Love A Backyard Photo Session

The backyard we used created so many opportunities for some great shots. The pool had a lot of brick, which was a fun textured background. And there were several gorgeous palm trees that made for an awesome feature, too.

One of my favorite shots was when Joni + Garrett hung out on the diving board. Super glad no one fell in. They both explored the diving board a bit, posing and bravely stepping far out on the board.

They also had so many fun and sweet moments. One in particular I loved was when Joni sat on the white iron patio furniture, her arms encircling Garrett. It just showcased the tenderness and love that’s so prevalent between these two.

Any Opportunity to Do Something New

At the end of the day, I love being able to explore my craft and passion with amazing people like Joni + Garrett. Plus, I had so much fun thinking outside of the box with them. This backyard photo session was a little bit different than your traditional couples photo shoot, and I was here for it.

These two are 100% unique in every sense of the word. It was an honor to be able to capture their essence in such an outside-the-box location. And getting a chance to do that for Joni + Garrett was so much fun.

If you have a special event coming up, I’d love to hear all about it. My goal is to take photos that represent you as a couple. It’s what I strive to do with every shoot, whether it’s a couple’s photo shoot, an elopement, an engagement session or a wedding.

Let’s connect and plan out your next photo shoot!
