Joni + Garret asked if I’d be interested in a backyard photo session with them. I was stoked, and I loved getting to know them as a couple.

I’m not a traditional wedding photographer. One thing I really focus on is capturing an authentic moment in time. And working with Carly and Elliot let me do just that.

A couple’s home is a meaningful part of their lives. For couples like Kait and JJ, this is even more true. It’s an expression of who they are and what’s important to them.

Photo sessions are at their best when the couple is comfortable. I want them to feel comfortable anyway, but the comfort also elevates the photos too. For Anna and Mike, this meant taking their engagement photos at home. I was happy to do it.

I really love the holidays, especially in New York City. When my husband and I lived there, I just remember the magic filling the city during Christmas time. That has never left me, and I have always wanted to document something that felt how I did during that time of the year. Doing a “Christmas” shoot was a must for me, but, of course, with my own twist on it.

I like challenging myself. I like challenging the couples I work with too. Challenge necessitates creativity, and creativity makes better photos. The challenge here was posing with a lack of elements. After all, there wasn’t much to work with in this desert photoshoot for the couple, Stacy and Kevin.

The desert carries with it the idea of things being harsh and rundown. There’s beauty in the rundown, in the unforgiving. When Vic and Aaron reached out to me, this was the look I wanted to create for them. A photoshoot in the desert doesn’t have to be way out in nowhere though. For Vic and Aaron’s shoot, we chose an area on the fringes of civilization, an area the desert had made its own.

Sometimes I want my photoshoots to be a challenge. Challenges force and inspire creativity. In turn, that creativity creates unique and inspiring work that inspires more creativity. Challenges are good for everyone involved. This was also true for Brittany and Valentino’s couple’s session.

I love working with intentional people. If you’ve seen my photography, you know that’s me, and that’s what I do. So, getting to work with others who are the same is fulfilling. That’s the way it was for Aja and Colin’s Boulder elopement at Spruce Pool. Now, let’s get into it.

I love taking couples to new places with their photos. I love pushing them. Not to be mean. I’m here to help! But to show them who they can be. With Ellyssa and James’ Venice Beach engagement photos, we found out, and it was great.

There is beauty in simplicity. There is intimacy. When everything else is stripped away, kind of literally here, ha, the truth feels safe to come out. For Kelsey and Bekah, this truth was love. Those two don’t need somewhere to go. They don’t need flowers, dresses, or ceremonies. They only need each other, and their Boulder engagement photos show that.

All my sessions mean something to me. Every single one. Each one is a chance for new expression. Each one is a chance for continued expression. Each one is a chance to see others’ expression. But some sessions mean more than others, like this one with some engagement photos at my grandparents’ home.

I love couples like Mel and Andy. The couples who’ve never taken professional photos before. The couples who are nervous about it. I want to help them. I want to wow them. I want them to wow themselves. I want them to know they can wow themselves. If I can turn one client’s world upside down, then it’s been a good day. Momma likes to overdeliver for her clients, and she definitely did for this wedding in Tulum.

I can’t quite explain how special it is to document people through different stages of their lives. I shot Chris and Amber’s engagement and wedding a few years ago, and now we got to mark their time moving into parenthood with this family photoshoot.

When Minhee reached out about shooting creative family photos and was up for exploring with some more unusual elements, I was in. Our time in the studio together was so fun and unusual.

Looking at these mountain engagement photos, you’d never know that Tori and Bear started out hating each other. I know, right? But that’s what they said when they told me their story – they met snowboarding in Utah, and it was less than love at first sight.

Emily and Jay’s moody European wedding at Manorbier Castle was like a little escape from reality. The groom’s family is originally from Wales, and the two of them love the history of the nation. When they got engaged, they knew that a castle wedding was an absolute must.

I love the chance to be back in New York. The chaos, the pace: it’s like nothing else. So, when Lindsey and Noam reached out about taking some NYC engagement photos with them, I was all in.

Adelita and Caleb’s chic Lotusland wedding was such a cool blend of classic and unique. When it came to their wedding photography, they wanted a vibe that would complement their elegant-with-a-twist aesthetic. They asked me to take it on because they wanted someone with an out of the box eye, and I had a lot of fun doing it.

Niki and Matt’s Joshua Tree wedding had that electric flare. The kind of warmth and creativity that makes you want to stay just a little longer. After changing their plans around more than once because of the pandemic, they decided on a Joshua Tree wedding that brought together the natural world with a good party. They landed on a music festival-inspired aesthetic that went perfectly with their venue: the Know Where Ranch out in the desert.
