Minimalist Desert Photoshoot For Couple

I like challenging myself. I like challenging the couples I work with too. Challenge necessitates creativity, and creativity makes better photos. The challenge here was posing with a lack of elements. After all, there wasn’t much to work with in this desert photoshoot for the couple, Stacy and Kevin. They found me through Instagram. Like with all the couples I work with, I wanted to give them something special, something unique

So, I developed this desert photoshoot for the couple.

Making The Forgotten Memorable

There are many forgotten spaces in the world. Spaces we need or use or see. But they become a part of the scenery that slowly slips from memory. Sometimes we never notice them at all.

They’re just there. We pass them by like people at the store, seen and then gone.

I wanted to bring one of those spaces out of the forgotten and into the remembered. I looked for the overlooked until I found something off the side of the road. What’s more forgotten than the places between where we’re going and where we’re coming from?

No longer for this one.

Desert Photoshoot For Couple Goes Lean

I really wanted this to be a minimal effort for the styling. I wanted everything to be simple and straightforward. The more simple and straightforward something is, the more real it is.

I wanted this desert photoshoot for the couple to feel as real as possible. I wanted Stacy and Kevin to feel like what they were getting real, and I wanted it to feel like them as much as possible.

In the beginning, they were so shy. I loved it because it reminded me of an important part of what I do. That’s making people feel comfortable. None of us can have a photoshoot without it. I want to push people, not break them, ha.

Within this minimal space, we developed a Western kind of vibe. Stacy dressed in a white dress with a hat and six-shooter. Kevin took on a vibe like a ranger with his suit, boots, and bolo tie.

They felt like a pair on the run, hiding out. We found opportunities to shoot in front of old fences, cacti, and the endless desert waste. The desert can be giving, if you look for what it’s offering.

There were some old pipes too that added to the feel of this forgotten place. No one would seek this place out, which meant this desert photoshoot for the couple would be even more special. It would belong even more to them.

What’s Your Forgotten Space?

There are many more forgotten or overlooked spaces out there. I’m ready to find them and show just what they can become. Maybe you feel the same.

If you do, let me know. I’d love to work on a photoshoot with you and yours. And together we’ll bring a little more of the forgotten back into the world.
