Julie and Zane’s Eccentric Burning Man Wedding

If you know anything about Burning Man, you know it’s an unforgettable experience. The entire week is all about discovering yourself. Letting go of what doesn’t serve you and finding your way back to your inner joy.

Zane and Julie are long-time Burning Man attendees. They even have their own mini burning man on their property in the Colorado mountains every year.

Even though they were officially married last year at Burning Man, they wanted to have a Burning Man wedding for family and friends. It ended up being something similar to the desert excursion, but a bit more eccentric.

It was hands down one of the most fun weddings I have ever been a part of.

Julie and Zane

When I think of Julie and Zane, I think of creativity. Ingenuity. Uniquely eclectic and wonderfully weird. They designed every detail of their wedding themselves.

I loved that they curated their wedding to be what they wanted instead of what they thought their guests might want. The vibes were SO Julie and Zane, and their wedding attire was truly remarkable.

Julie wore a hand-made dress with a custom light-up piece for the reception. It was a really fun dress and such a clear expression of how much Julie lights up any room she enters.

Zane wore an amazing pin-stripe suit with multi-colored buttons and a deep teal ascot. And the guests were dressed accordingly, too, which was awesome to see. There was even a beard glitter station for those who really wanted to up their beard game.

A Burning Man Wedding in the Colorado Mountains

If there was one word I had to pick to describe this Burning Man wedding, it would be vibrant. You walk in, and you’re greeted with a giant sign that says, “Welcome to the Funky Forest.” It only gets better from there.

There were rainbow decorations everywhere. And tons of whimsical elements, like a bear sculpture that blew bubbles and a fox statue that blew smoke. Julie and Zane had an amazing wedding ceremony and a mind-blowing reception.

If you ever needed notes on how to do a forest-themed Burning Man wedding, this would be your primary inspiration. It was such a beautiful day, and I had an amazing time capturing the love these two had for one another.

Be-YOU-tiful

Julie and Zane’s Burning Man wedding was truly one for the books. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more creative or imaginative wedding in my entire life. It got to the point where my face started to hurt from smiling.

Their wedding just reminded me how important it is to stay true to yourself. That no matter what comes your way, your inner weird and wonderful self is the most important thing in the world. And there is always someone out there who loves you exactly as you are.

If you’re looking to have a non-traditional wedding and want a wedding photographer with experience in creative wedding photography, I’d love to hear your ideas.
