Brittany + Valentino's Confined And Comfy Couple's Session

Sometimes I want my photoshoots to be a challenge. Challenges force and inspire creativity. In turn, that creativity creates unique and inspiring work that inspires more creativity. Challenges are good for everyone involved. This was also true for Brittany and Valentino’s couple’s session.

Let’s talk about it.

Making Them Comfortable

Nothing else matters in a couple’s session or any other type of session except the comfort of the couple. I mean that. Even as someone who takes what they do very seriously, my couples’ comfort comes first.

I want them to have a good time, but I also know how important comfort is to what I do for them. If they’re not comfy with me and what I’m doing, it doesn’t matter how creative my posing is or how vintage the space feels, it just doesn’t work.

That was where another challenge came in because both Brittany and Valentino were pretty nervous. So, instead of one challenge, I got two. Go figure.

I did what I always do in situations like that one though: I took it slow and took the time to make them feel comfy with me. Then I could start getting them to do the things in their couple’s session that would otherwise make them feel not so comfy.

Then they were able to look amazing, beautiful, and exactly how they envisioned themselves looking together in their couple’s session. They were already, but feeling comfy helps to bring it out even more.

Brittany And Valentino’s Couple’s Session

I just realized I never even mentioned the first challenge I wanted, ha. It was the challenge of the space. We were in this one studio room, and I really wanted it to be a challenge to pose them since there was a lack of movement and objects to use.

We did have some objects to use though. A vintage phone, vintage TV, fan, couch, and so on. What was really cool was how the photos told the story of our creativity. It felt like Brittany and Valentino were exploring their limits and seeing what they could do with what little they had.

The challenge was leading to exactly what I hoped it would. And Brittany and Valentino ended up feeling like giants in this little space. A lot of shots were pretty close and helped with this too.

My favorite part about this whole couple’s session though was how much Brittany and Valentino nailed it. I’m glad I was able to help them feel comfortable so they could be awesome in that little space. Hopefully, they continue to feel awesome in larger spaces too.

All Challenges Must End

Together, we created a great set of couple’s session photos. I love doing work like that, and I’m always looking for more. It could be at a pool, tattoo shop, or somewhere else I haven’t thought of yet.

I’d love for you to help inspire me to figure that out though. If you’re interested, talk with me, and let’s start getting comfy with each other so we can make something awesome together.
