Mountain Engagement Photos in Boulder, CO

Looking at these mountain engagement photos, you’d never know that Tori and Bear started out hating each other. I know, right? But that’s what they said when they told me their story – they met snowboarding in Utah, and it was less than love at first sight.

But all that is ancient history these days, where they still hit the slopes, but it’s together. They’re best friends, about to get married. They still love snowboarding and being outdoors, so when they got engaged they wanted mountain engagement photos. I met them in Boulder, CO, and we headed up a trail to catch the golden hour.

Not Your Average Mountain Engagement Photos

You know how much I love working with flowers, so we brought some simple chamomile and baby’s breath with us. But Bear and Tori were up for adding even more unique elements, and they had seen another photoshoot I did with a shopping cart and liked the concept. So, when someone was kind enough to leave this cart on a trail in Boulder, we took it as fate.

Working with the cart ended up being so fun and perfect. It was a great way to work with levels and layers, which made these mountain engagement photos a touch more interesting. Plus, it was really fun to challenge Bear and Tori (and myself!) to create poses with this element that didn’t belong in the landscape. That ‘out of place’ feeling is becoming one of my favorites to explore with engagements.

As the night fell, I got to pull out my flash. I love the energy of some of the shots we got on the road with Tori and Bear running off with the cart. They were a total blast to work with, and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding.
